Planning around a retirement age

The age you choose to retire has a large effect on your projected balance, for two reasons: it changes how many years of contributions and investment growth you get, and it changes how many years your balance may need to last afterwards. Try a few different retirement ages in the calculator below to see how bringing retirement forward or pushing it back changes both your projected balance and how comfortably it might support you.

From a projected balance to a retirement income

A lump sum balance is only useful once you translate it into an income you can actually live on. Once you have a projected balance from this calculator, the How Long Will My Superannuation Last calculator lets you test different annual drawdown amounts against that balance, and the Superannuation + Age Pension calculator shows how a part Age Pension entitlement might supplement it.
